About
Our Staff
Our inner team provides the inspiration and
direction for ERT, with our associates bringing the specific expertise in particular
areas. All members of our team have a similar background and motivation for excellence in
our training. Our medical trainers have all worked as First Responders, whether in the
Emergency Services, Armed Forces or across industry, you can rest assured they have first
hand experience, not just read a bigger manual than yours.
Alistair joined the
British Army in 1988, serving for 10 years as an operational medic within the Royal Army
Medical Corps. During this time Alistair travelled extensively, gaining experience of
working in many diverse environments, from the desert to the Artic and worked as the team
medic at the British forces Jungle Warfare School for two years.
Whilst working as a medic, Alistair
encountered a wide range of trauma cases and witnessed first hand the effects of the
climate and surroundings on our health.
On leaving the army it was back to school,
studying adult teaching, building on the instructional experience received as a senior
medic.
Whilst studying he worked as a first aid
trainer providing a variety of courses across industry and the community.
Travel was why Alistair joined the army and
it is still a big part of his life, he has recently returned from a trekking trip in Nepal
and Tibet raising money for the Meningitis Trust.
Kevin joined Essex County
Fire & Rescue Service in 1996 and is still a serving fire fighter. Before joining the
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service, Kevin lived abroad working in the skiing industry.
On Kevins return to England he realised that the attitude to first aid was very
different from the Scandinavia countries in which he had worked.
Whilst working as a fire fighter Kevin has
dealt with a variety of medical emergencies and seen the value of decisive, quick and easy
first aid being administered on the scene whilst awaiting the arrival of the ambulance.
Kevin returned to
education to gain the teacher training qualification
to
build on instructional techniques. Kevin worked as an instructor whilst
studying providing a wide range of courses to industry and the
community.
Alistair and Kevin met whilst working as
instructors and soon realised that there aims and goals for first aid were the same and
decided to form what is Emergency Response Training UK Ltd.
